Just want to say thanks for posting this information. I feel especially bright in that I can understand
1) That you cannot post this before the product is released, thanks for informing us as soon as you are allowed to.
2) That many others (17 according to Rob Lee) also had pre-release versions, but did not write reviews); thanks for making the effort.
3) That Rob did not simply turn over product development to you, so I imagine there are frequently suggestions you make which are not taken, and I seem to remember grumbling about some of those instances in other reviews
4) That you probably had the review written a week or two before releasing it, and that it is no big deal to cut and paste a 3-line announcement into multiple forums.
5) That anyone who thinks that "whether the end is planed square" is a meaningful comment to ask for in such a review really shouldn't be taken too seriously.

But Rob shot me down when he pointed out that most people here are able to figure out things like this.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your experiences with these tools. I don't remember ever being motivated to go out and buy a tool you reviewed, but I have felt more informed about choices out there, and that may have ultimately informed purchase decisions. In fact, I have a home-made granny's tooth plane similar to yours, but with a blade made from a hex key. I may spend $10 to $20 on a Veritas blade after reading the article on your build. Make sure to ask Rob for your cut on that sale! LOL
