Funny, my take-away...Response To:

I didn't read one plane or another coming in second, my reading indicated that it simply came down to the durability of the steel.
I've read reviews before (Brent Beach comes prominently to mind) that indicated that L-N A2 isn't the greatest. He liked the Hock cryo A2 better, as I recall. That in itself is a drag in general, but at this point, my L-N smoother is sporting S53 anyway, or Gramercy D2. So the failure of L-N when pitted against wood that some of us might otherwise use as a sharpening stone isn't entirely surprising.
I assume the need for better steel anyway... given that, it sounded like Bevel up/ Bevel down was pretty much a draw.
