Sure, sometimes a suggested subject can turn "I don't have anything to talk about" into an "Oh yeah! I did accomplish something this week that we might find interesting." I haven't been visiting the chat room on Tuesday evenings (partly because of a configuration problem, which I think I've fixed), but maybe Stephen can comment on how his suggested discussion subjects have influenced the direction of the discussion. If I understand human nature, I'm sure other items have come up that proved to be useful and interesting, while thinking about the announced subject at least served as an initial stimulus. It seems as if I tried moderating the chat a while ago, but didn't feel I was very successful at it.
