I did a lot of production work in a shop for a couple years, all power sawn and mortised joints. Being a hair off center was common for whatever reason. Most pieces were G&G, with the rails set back from the posts, so you never noticed, but on the few flush jointed piece we made, I just swiped the joint a few times with a plane after glue up. Sloppy perhaps, sure to cause fits of heebie jeebies on internet forums, but sure as heck worked fine :D
