oops..I wasn't narrow enough. (though I don't think the bailey bench planes have shortcomings, either). I meant to say there was nothing to improve on the bailey cap iron design (of course that showed up on the bedrock, too).

Apparently, most buyers didn't think any part of the plane needed improving, since they didn't opt to spend the extra buck or so that a bedrock cost.
