But it`s a matter of experience really.
You can start out with digital scales and moisture meters but once you get rolling all those things will be gathering dust and you`ll wonder why you felt you absolutely had to have them back then.

Mike has given you some excellent tips more closely related to what you`re doing than my harvesting and drying techniques which are more geared toward bowl and spindle turning.
The one really good tip I would like to pass along is to take the batteries out of that expensive pin type moisture meter you had to have before you put it in the case and place it on the shelf. It`ll save you a lot of disappointment years later when you want to pass it on to someone who can really use it only to find the battery has blown up and your several hundred dollar meter is now toast because of a cheap 9 volt battery. Hate it when that happens. >(
