I would bet I'm partly to blame for this, and for what it's worth I'm sorry about it. With the earlier postings I felt the line between objective and subjective information was being needlessly muddled, and yes, I do tend to find that a bit irritating. It probably shows.

I would say that you are probably quite correct that vinegar and salt has long been used as a cleaning product by butchers. Before bleach and other modern disinfectants, they would have had to use something, and the stuff does work. Funny how humans have figured out what works over the years, often long before it can be explained through a verifiable theory.
