(far a the metal goes, like I said above, a choice that holds an edge longer and sharpens as easy or easier than something else is never a bad thing, even if it doesn't really solve a problem for some of us who are already pigs).

I think it might even be local metal you're using, anyway. The two places I'd have thought of in the US would've been some crucible manufacturer and the latrobe steel mill, but I gather from latrobe's literature that they are doing all or some parts of the process for crucible's powdered stuff.
