Passion.

Woodworking, above all else is about passion!

We dont see what they are looking at. Our eyes are blind, our minds are numb.

Most people have never actually looked at a piece of wood.. I mean really looked.

Take a pile of sawdust press it into a shape like a Queen anne table paint it red and put it in a furniture showroom, most people will think that its beautiful Mahogany table.

Show them up close in minute detail what goes into a real piece of furniture, then take them back to the first one you showed them.

You will then have opened someones eyes and mind forever.

Take them to a woodworking course, fill their head all the fascinating beauty of wood , the weight, the textures , smells, colors, the cells structure, get them to tune up a handplane and make magnificent shavings and then watch them holding them up in the air like a holy offering. Then watch them gently running their fingers over the perfectly planed surface: you have them hooked... for good, life as they once new it is over. You now have a woodworker if only in spirit at this point.
