I am not talking about learning to make projects of any kind, but learning about the principles that you will apply to all of your projects.
Locked in a room for a week, I am pretty sure that i could show anyone everything about wood structure that they would ever use in woodworking. So that they would have an understanding of the material from its cell structure to working properties etc. etc. So that they had enough knowledge and critical thinking to be able to apply this to projects that they would build in the future.
I made alot of mistakes designing and building furniture because i lacked this basic knowledge. It took me many years to understand wood, but its not a lot to understand not really, it could be taught in a week.
I wish someone had given me that course the first month that i started,i would have saved a lot of time and dissapointments.
The same with tuning, setting up, using and understanding tools and basic machinery, marking out, priciples and processes etc.
