The Schwarz has an awesome writing ability. His article and viewpoints are refreshing, especially since he is self deprecating and points out almost all the time that your opinion may differ from his, and if what you are doin is workin for you, by all means keep at it.

No, he is not a hand tool woodworking purist, neither was Maloof.

Please don't try to change the Schwarz. If you don't like him, read somebody else. Lots of us like him just like he is.
