I hope Textchappy won't mind if I but in. What you say about taking it easy when using chisels has a ring of truth about it. But I was watching on the net one of those Japanese kanna masters chopping out a dai, and, well, he was really pounding on it with what I presume were first class. sharp, Japanese chisels. It would seem that a gentle approach would take forever.
