All I had to do was go to Wikipedia and search for "hand plane" to come up with the page linked below. This page can be edited by anyone and is supposed to contain all known facts about the hand plane. The problem with putting down everything that is known is that so little is known. For instance, you cannot prove the idea that you exist. You might think you know the best position for the cap iron is .003 from the leading edge of the iron, and I think the best place is .004 from the leading edge. Which is right?
