One other factor with getting power tools for me - one last Army move. I believe that the movers find the things you want least to loose and break them first - like my balsa wood airplane models that they decided to put under books in a box.

That's part of the reason I haven't been looking at workbenches or workbench designs too much. I was hoping to get by with what I had. Think that's going to turn out to be the greatest obstacle/mistake.
