I guess the first time someone showed me a brighter surface with the same or better tearout mitigation, I would've gone for the double iron. Someone would have to prove something like that to me to get me to pay extra for it.

I'd have to see period proof of the scenario you provide to believe it, because I just haven't seen it and if larry doesn't produce written proof, then it's supposition, also.

I don't agree with the sentiment that a single iron plane with a tight mouth performs better than a double iron plane with a less tight mouth. I've seen otherwise with my own two eyes in the last two months, that's the part I'm hung up on, the supposition that there is some sort of superior performance from a single iron plane even if both designs are made perfectly or both are mediocre. That's just not the case.

But we're at a point that we're going to go in circles unless someone can show us definite written proof of the reasons.
