" Now, with one winding stick at the farthest edge( what Japanese call the back)"

Or dropping into English for a moment, the "toe"

" and another at the closest edge (Japanese front),"

The "heel". Unless a guy is planing to do the whole description in Japanese, why is it we feel compelled to use Japanese, in English translations to boot? Though I suppose the beauty of the English language is that with enough use we can absorb all the Japanese terms also.

So just to be clear, is one of the sticks on your side of the blade, and the other on the far side of the blade? Or are both on the far side of the blade?

Also, is your objective to get the plane to work, or to do so only with traditional technique described in HS's video, though for one thing the Spoting in technique isn't traditional.

Also, is this plane second hand? I was going on that assumption. If it is new, the blade was never fully set, and there is twist in the dai, that would be a little different.

"(I have to tell you, speaking as a mathematician, that with any four points in space, any three form a plane; so it's not really possible to say THESE three form the plane and the other is above or below."

Sounds like it would be wrong to say that "Only these three form a plane". Seems like it can't be wrong to select any three one wants...
