Why should I try Non-Japanese Chisels?Texchappy
or should I? I've started out with one Japanese (Masashige) 6mm chisel (and to be honest haven't set it up yet). As I expand my chisels to more sizes I've wondered if I should try an American chisel to compare.
So here's the basic question: Should I try an American (or English) chisel to compare?
The under-question: What advantages are there to American chisels compared to Japanese?
I know when I asked this on another forum, Wilbur suggested I shouldn't because of consistency in sharpening technique.
If I try an American chisel, I'm strongly leaning to Blue Spruce but would be open to other brands.
