Any chance you could send those notes on layout? I'm afraid that your phrase,"...BUT the plane is held back about a third of the top line, so the edge is a 1/3rd horizontal line to the base." , is still unclear to me. I'm picturing lining up the flat part of the blade on the outside of the dai exactly on the top line, and then, starting with it all the way to the sole, sliding it back along the top line for about 1/3 the length of the top line. ( So this would be what you mean by ,"The blade is only two thirds of the way in." But then what? I don't know what "inking the blade into final position" means, without all kinds of error-prone trial and error. I sure do wish there was a set of instructions. Sorry to be so dense. (I kind of like my own understanding of your original post, since it's apparently not obviously wrong, of making a wooden wedge that looks just like the blade -- except thinner -- and using it as a template to cut the abutments.) I thought that's what you were getting at originally. I believe I could go ahead with that.
