My thoughts exactly.I thought of dutchmen,but there's just too many knots. This board came out of her attic and it's the only one good enough for a table.So I'll fill the knots and sand them down. I tried a sample and satin water based urethane doesn't look too plastic. I'll just steel wool to dull it some. She want's it coated.If it was mine I'd oil it and call it good.Thanks---Jack
