It is exclusionary if one's time is not unlimited. Time has to be spent either woodworking or machining surface plates. Or spent talking about it on these forums, like you and I are now.

Still wondering how all the great woodworking of the past got done with nothing but an old rag-wrapped oilstone or two kept in a bucket.

Now, we need half micron diamond paste and surface plates that we machine ourselves?
