It's definitely abrasive enough and sticky enough to rip the wire edge off a razor. I used my palm as a finishing strop for a little while, it definitely improved the edge from every stone I used.

I've gone to horse leather, though, because once you get through the first coarse behavior of it (and it's definitely abrasive at first), it becomes really smooth, and does a better job, especially when it comes to stretching time between going to a stone to refresh the edge.

The palm probably does leave broad wear equivalent to 3 microns, but the edge is definitely a lot better than it would be if one stepped down to a 3 micron stone, even if such an edge was then later stropped on bare leather.
