While I agree 100% with you, I can also understand why one wants to analyze things. Especially makers of planing machines!

I am still at the bottom of the learning curve of using chipbreakers. But I get quite good results now on smoothing European soft maple, the stuff that made me grind a back bevel before, with a Stanley #4 and 0.4 mm between edge and CB-edge. No idea how thick my shavings are.

(0.4mm = 16 thou)

No idea how usefull these numbers are. Like Warren said, it probably varies too much.
