One might guess that the "New improved chip breaker" resulted from the fact that the old style didn't with the high angle frog. The new chip breaker was shipped on planes shortly after I bought mine with its old chip breaker. When I discovered this flaw I tried taking advantage of LN legendary customer service and offered to exchange mine for the new style, but my generous offer was refused. And I haven't bought anything from them since.
