Curtis turningResponse To:
Skews are cursed () Bill Tindall
Curtis has demonstrated spindle turning for our club. His blanks are green wood and it turns more easily than dry wood. The only way to get the crisp detail that Curtis achieves is with a skew and no sanding, but it will take a lot of practice to get there. This fact may be why in "days of old" that the turning was largely done by turners that only did spindle turning and sold the product to the furniture makers. If you take a class with Curtis the turnings are provided.
