What are you doing to "restore" them? What are you doing to make the iron look like new? Obviously, they are your planes; you can do what you want with them, so far there is no government regulation. On the cast iron, how long will it look new? I once received a 603 that was lightly rusted and polished the sides to remove the rust; I couldn't wait for it to get some patina back so it would look "right".
