It looks good because I did a good job of covering up the screwups. What really sinks it as a keeper though is the arm posts. When I drilled them,I didn't lean them out far enough and you have to be skinny to sit in it. Otherwise it's not really bad. I realized the arms were wrong early on but there was no practical way to correct it. So from that point on it was a "practice chair".I love the way it feels,it fits me perfect,so it's now my new shop chair. Yes I am going to paint it. I'm experimenting with milk paints and I'll cover the paint with BLO.thanks---Jack
