Re: A grinder and two stones..

Everyone has something that fascinates them, I guess. To me, it's the feel and results of different stones, and what they do to an edge. And how useful of a tool an edge is (whether it's scissors, pruning tools, kitchen knives, tools, razors, whatever...)

I don't know why it's fascinating, but to me it is, and I have the discretionary $$ to play with them. And as I was accused above, I have gobs of stones that serve no practial purpose other than recreation.

I think having a couple of stones and being very familiar with how to use them is more important than searching for stones that will do some particular trick. You can likely get the trick out of the stones you have already if you have anything decent (and it sounds like you do).

It's pretty nifty you ran into razor hones, though! Most of them are not worth any serious $$, but once in a while you'll find a rare one, or one that's not rare but known to produce a great edge on a razor, and they bring big $$.
