.. I haven't encountered anything that a normal person would use in projects that doesn't plane well with my two stone process. I can get shavings in the range of 3 ten thousandths pretty easily (not I'd ever do it working something, but it shows room to spare for regular work) from my "quick" maintenance method.

My usual second stone is a stone with particle size just under a micron. I haven't gotten edges a whole lot sharper no matter how much time is spent on them.

The only thing I have that goes beyond that on a regular basis is what I shave with, and it doesn't go much beyond that.
