I'll bite. I agree with Derek. I'll also say this. Honing Guides are not efficient. They are consistent but they are necessarily slower than freehand. Moreover, honing the full face is also necessarily less efficient than honing just the micro bevel. The only reason for micro bevels is efficiency. There is no other reason for them to exist. Less steel is in play, less force, fewer strokes and all that. I'll take it further and suggest this, as a notion to kick around, that efficiency comes with volume. The more you sharpen, the more refined become your movements; fewer missteps, more muscle memory accuracy, etc.
Please note that I'm not suggesting, or preaching, that any method is "better" than any other. Better is a scarey word in these sorts of contexts. But they are what they are in terms of efficency because that's measureable. Different people simply prefer to work different ways.
Then there is the Paul Sellers method which totally baffles me.
