When one freehand sharpens a non-laminated blade, either one creates a hollow grind and uses this as a template to hone, or one lifts the blade when honing. Both methods create a microbevel. The first method does so without a secondary bevel, while the second method relies on it.

Seriously? Again, you've constrained my actions. I neither create a hollow grind nor lift the blade when freehanding, western or eastern chisels. So, how about a third or fourth option for me to use? I think this may be a case of how men and women comprehend when arguing. I talk to Jack and list three reasons why he should/not do certain things, five minutes later I ask him what I said, he can't remember. So know this: however tedious this gets, whenever you constrain me to your two ways of doing something, I'll complain.

Now, what did I just say? Doesn't having it in writing help at all?
