As to math, I was a math major through 1st year of college, when I realized that I didn't begin to understand applied math. I didn't intend to say your sister was wrong about doing math, but that her students probably did get it better than she said. (Note: I don't consider pure mathematicians scientists.) But enough of this, way outside of woodworking.
