Derek....I like this modification very much....there will be no need for a fourth, you are there....I don't know that I've seen this done this way before (thats one of the real positives about wood/metalworking being able/free to use your mind to solve problems)....one of the things I like about dowel (barrel) nuts is that you can also tighten them from the outside of the cap with one wrench....for what its worth, I vote for leaving the bolt heads uncovered....Now for the really exciting part, mount that beautiful vise hardware!!!.....I'm looking forward to seeing photos of that....and I think the smile on your face the first time you spin that wheel will be like this .
