My version of a dovetail holder thingie *PIC*

I'd thought about this for quite a while. It was designed to fulfill several functions:

--it had to fit on the credenza behind my desk at work (I work shifts, and at nights and weekends we're allowed to do stuff like this). That credenza is 40" high.

--it had to basically be a vise of sorts.

--it also had to be able to function as a shooting board and bench hook, so the top is designed for that. The base is integral, and serves to provide ears for clamping and also as a base for the plane to ride on and against.

The screws are standard 3/8" carriage bolts.

It works exceptionally well. Turns out, the wood of the vise clamps other wood pieces extremely tightly. All the construction is baltic birch.

As it also turns out, the whole shebang works very well on my regular bench at home if I am seated. Seeing as how I have lower back problems, I try to do as much as possible seated, including dovetail sawing and fitting.
