Derek....I really don't want to belabor the point; but, I find this voluntary replacement by LV to be totally unique in my experience. I have been buying tools for a long time and a number of those tools had some major shortcomings in design and/or manufacture. I've never had a manufacturer contact me saying we could have made such and such better...here is a replacement part...thanks for being our customer. The only time I've heard of a product recall/replacement seems to be when a company is caught in violation of some significant law (EPA, OSHA, etc) and can be successfully sued or there is such an uproar by customers over a poor product that a company acts to maintain what is left of their reputation/good will. At best, you may get a redesign on the next generation of that product. This is so unique....a minor hardly noticeable "flaw"....no customer complaint/awareness....totally voluntary by the company.
