Subject:
Disston Disapointment . . . *PIC*

steve mackay
This had been hanging in my FIL's garage since I've known them. Probably 50's D-23 cross. Less handle and only four nuts. They were "crafters" and I KNEW the fate that was in store for it. After years of lusting it finally followed me home before it was humiliated with a pastoral farm scene. My heart broke when I started removing the rust and gunk. It had already been "prepped" for it's new look. With, probably, 80 grit on a belt sander. 220 made no headway. 150 neither. Any bigger grit and it'll be paper thin. I know it's not worth a whole lot of effort but it deserved a better fate. It will have to live on as scrapers and such.

Let us all bow our heads . . .
