He can be hard to get a hold of. Expect to talk for a while if you do get a hold of him.

I've heard too that the irons are hardened and not tempered. I kind of preferred that. You can get any starrett label and find out what hardness you want them to go to and temper them in the oven.

I have one in a plane kit that I'm only half done with, so i'm not sure how hard it is, but i'll probably throw it in the oven at 350 for an hour just as a precaution once I finish the plane.
