I was given this bench about 12 or so years ago. Since then it has had the wood replaced and see a lot of use. Still, I wonder if anyone recognises it and can identify the manufacturer?
All I know it was built in Germany. My friend was to be the Perth agent, and when this did not take off, the bench lay in his garage for some years before he made a gift of it to me.
Essentially, the bench consists of two face vises within a steel frame that has a wood work top.
I have been using it to hold the chair I am repairing (which is when I thought to post it here)..
I added wheels, giving it mobility around the shop.
Here is another view of the double fase vises - I have a board clamped between. This make for a great dovetail vise, it is wonderful to hold long boards for routing mortices (since you can run a fence along the edge of the worktop), and it is sturdy enough to pound on with as much force as you can muster.
The end of the worktop also is an alternate home for my Zyliss vise (yes, it gets used!) ..
I would not swap it for two Workmates.
Anyone seen one before?
Regards from Perth
Derek
