To tell you the truth though, I tend to think that a properly made joint will last centuries under normal use, regardless of the glue (assuming its not CA of course). When the joint is less than ideal is where the modern glues seem to really outshine hide glue, or where conditions are outside "normal" - too hot, too wet, and really most of the modern glues just give you a little more tolerance of these conditions before they too fail.
