A lot of people had very enjoyable pandemics. At least up till a month or so ago, and official stats wise, only 10% have got COVID, with few seriously ill. So you have huge numbers of people who were not ill, had a long holiday, and in many cases got a lot of government money.

I am still in my "summer" residence in NB, and with a population of 760K or something, there were as few as 2 cases at a time all last summer. But you could not find a 2x4, boat, or pickup for sale. People took a government paid holiday and built stuff, or bought new boats. Local mileage varies a lot. We have basically the worst economy in Canada, and it was like a party here.
