The point here is still (ignoring the potassium dichromate) that every other piece listed on that maker's site is something plus some type of shellac.

The chair is linseed oil and seed lac.

I would suspect if I looked over various makers' pages, I'd find a lot more than one person still using shellac instead of polyurethane, but I'm not a buyer of these types of things, so I have no idea who is dictating use of one or the other. Is it the maker, or is it the buyer?
