Two years ago I had some trim pieces that needed finishing. I don't recall exactly why I decided to do it, but I wiped the polyurethane onto the trim. I used the regular MinWax Fast Drying polyurethane. It worked great. I had stained the trim and applied three coats of poly, sanding between coats. The finish was smooth and run free.
