OT Ram 3.0L V6 eco-diesel in pickup truck () David weaver
I think the long life expectancy was built on domestic mechanical diesels without much for emissions controls, like the 12v Cummins that dodge used decades ago.
I read a farm board sometimes and not of the posters are switching back to gas on anything not used for constant towing because of the hassle and cost of maintenance with the current egr and def motors. As in, the emissions standards have made it difficult for them to be reliable compared to older engines and the fuel economy isn't as good on the small ones.
Ditto with what was said above...most of the small ones are imported. Jeeps have had options off and on with Italian diesels. Can't remember who makes the gm diesel. Maybe isuzu or something.
