Many of us know how to put stuff together. Some find an outlet by reproducing grand designs of the past. Hence, the growth of Society of American Period Furniture Makers. Others copy or get inspired by what they can find in books and the like, with a result for better or worse.

No doubt there are people somewhere that spend their idle time sketching attractive furniture, who can't build a saw horse, for lack of tools or experience.

I don't mind paying several hundred dollars for lumber and hardware. I would be willing to pay someone that could design to consult on a project. But how would we even find one another?
