"Protecting intellectual property is important, but the laws are often bent and twisted to favor one company over another."

Intellectual property is protected by explicitly favoring one company over another. That is what the ITC proceedings over Bosch's saw were about. The ITC found that the Bosch saw infringed and as a result those saws are not permitted to be imported to the US.

No laws have been bent or twisted. The outcome may rankle, but that has nothing to do with the law as such.
