re-cut the countersink to fit a #8 ?

So, I need to get some different #7 x 3/4" screws. Why #7? The hinge has a screwy sized hole. A #8 sits proud of leaf and a #6 is buried.

have you thought about re-drilling the countersink to take a #8 screw, see this example from Lee Valley http://www.leevalley.com/us/Wood/page.aspx?p=44708&cat=1,180,42240,42281&ap=1
