Subject:
Frame and panel joinery *PIC*

Bill Tindall

The side of the chest of drawers will be a frame and panel and I have a nice board for the panel. For a typical frame I use the joinery illustrated in the following two pictures.

This simple cope joint is strong and the coped molding part makes a nice joint. However, the profile on the frame for the chest of drawers is a bit complex for the cope so I chose to just do a miter. The miter is pared with a guide block and chisel.

This picture shows the assembled joint.
