Re: OT - TV above gas fireplace, & efficiency ques

Since I love to post OT posts I Guess its only fitting I should participate and try to help answer one.

I have heard that the makers of flat panel TV's will void the warranty if it is installed above a fireplace. I don't know if it is really true, but it might be wise to confirm one way or another with the maker.

The people I know who put a fan in their fireplaces don't use them. The noise drives them crazy and they stop using the fan.

I think the stove version would be more efficient. Follow the building code and the installation instructions carefully.
