Re: A discussion of the myths of kiln dried lumber

Brian Anderson Gunsmith
My question may not be in tune with the rest of this but here it is anyway.

Ever been to home depot or similar and looked through the piles of 2x4s and others and found nothing but pretzel like wood twisted and warped. If this is an example of kiln dried wood, would the same wood have been any different if air dried or did the drying characteristics of the kiln make this wood more vulnerable to twisting and warping?

I have seen maple have warps and twists on what I recall was air dried (back in NH).

So my curiosity is peaked by this question.

Is a pretzel like piece of wood the result of how it was dried or the way it was cut?
or something else?
