I personally like to cut pieces fairly thick. I find that they dry straight, and there are more options when it comes to using the stuff, but lets just say you had a 2 in x 42 in x 8 foot piece of wood. Wet that would weight around 250. So while I have the do it yourself chainsaw mill, that size of tree is a fairly large chunk to handle And I like to cut thicker pieces still, and just don't have the gear to work too many pieces that big.
