Subject:
Sawing a large log question

Barry Irby
I have been posting about the oak tree that fell on my rental house in a recent storm. Today I eyeballed the small end just below the the first branch by holding a ruler up and trying to judge the top and bottom to be even with the surface of the future log. (tree is not cut up yet) It appears to be 30" or more. I am thinking the other end will be closer to 36 to 40". This would be cut into three or more logs at least 8' long.

I have called a guy with a bandsaw mill who has done some sawing for me before, but he had not called back. I suspect his mill (Woodmizer) will not handle it. So how do I deal with three logs 32" and larger?
